LibreOffice Impress - Group 9

Animations

Video 23 - Animations pt1 - Entrance, Exit, Emphasis

This video was created using LibreOffice 5.3.0.3. If you are using a lower version, some of the animations may not work properly. Slide properties can be found in the side bar in this version.

I start with a new Impress document (I use the template I careated in video 19). I add a title and change the background to the marble bitmap.

I add in 4 bullets. I dont want these bullets to show when the slide starts, I want the bullets to be seen one by one after a mouse click. I select all 4 bullets, then I click on the 3rd button down in the sidebar called custom animations.

Pressing the green plus sign (add effect) will add all four bullets to the custom animations. The full animation settings can only be seen if a single bullet is selected.

I select each button one at a time and customize them so the first 3 appear after a mouse-click and the fourth bullet appears at the same time as the third bullet.

After all four bullets are showing on the slide, we add a second animation to bullet two, to emphasis that bullet.

The last animation we see is an exit animation which removes one of the bullets from the slide.

Video 24 - Animations pt2 - Effect Options

I open the presentation started in video 23 and update the Bullet 2 animation to speed up and slow down.

I dim the animation color to gray after the animation, but that prevents the Emphasis animation from working properly.

The text animation of Bullet 2 is also changed to enter letter by letter.

Bullet 4 (that starts the same time as Bullet 3) will wait one second before starting, then repeats 3 times and get reset (which means it does not show).

The Bullet 4 entrance animation is updated not to rewind, the Bullet 4 Exit animation is set to 2 times and rewind (which brings that back to the screen)

A circle (shape) and 2 new bullets are added (Bullet 5 and Bullet 6); but they will only appear if the shape is clicked on, so the slide can skip them entirely if desired

Video 25 - Animations pt3 - Autonomous Animations

We create a new page to the presentation weve been working on, and make it a fully automated slide that is and example of how you might create you own kiosk presentation. Almost any object you add to a slide can be animated, in this video I animate a title box, a shape, a Fontwork, and an image.

First I add a title to the textbox and animate the title box to start right when the slide opens. I also add a ring (shape) to fade-in that will start when the page opens (same time as the title) but it will wait until the title animation is complete before it starts. The ring will appear to fade in, show for one second then fade out.

After the ring fades out, the Fontwork will fade-in and fly-in from the right, show for 1 second, then fade out, and fly-out to the Left.

Then I add a photo, I have that fade-in and fly-in from, the lower right, and spin adding 3 effects to the same object, make it look like it is bouncing off the slide title, and fade-out, fly-out, and spin-out to the lower left.

Note: There are some mistakes in this video, I left them in, because I thought you too, might make similar mistakes when creating your automated slides and might want to see how I deal with finding errors in my animated slides.

Video 26 - Animations pt4 - Autonomous Animations

I open the file weve been working on in the past few videos, I click on a bullet animation we created and open the effects options to show it has a Text Animation tab. Then I click on the image we created in the last video to show it does not have a Text Animation tab. Then I click on the shape we added in the last video and show it does not have a Text Animation tab, until after we add some text to that shape.

Then I add a new first slide and add two sets of bullets. I tab to the second bullet and tab once (making a second level) tab twice for the third bullet (making a third level) and tab 3 times on the 4th bullet (making a 4th level).

I then add a custom animation for the textbox and open the Effects Options dialogbox, click on the Animated text and I demonstrate how the different effect options in the Animate Text tab work.

Video 27 - Animations pt5 - Motion Paths

I create a new slide and add a shape then give the shape a motion path. I change the motion path from a star to a circle then adjust the circle to be a large oval path.

I insert another slide and add in some graphics from the gallery, an arrow and a shape that resembles a target, then I have the arrow move into the target on click. After the arrow hits the target the star moves from be behind the target to where the arrow started.

I also paste in a slide with a car graphic (from the gallery) that moves around the screen from left to right down and back then stops in front of a house.

Video 28 - Animations pt6 - Misc Effects

I start with a note that you should test out how this misc effects with the equipment you are going to use with the audience, before you show the presentation to an audience.

I create a new presentation and add a video, then open Custom Animations, add effect, and I change the category to Misc Effects.

I set my first effect to be toggle pause, the the video will show on the slide, but be paused, then I add another effect to start the media (which means start from the beginning) on click. I add a few more effects and play the slideshow on my computer with a single display.

When I add another display, and replay this same slideshow, the video is not seen until I click and the video starts to play. The pause and start from beginning work as expected, but this effect does not work the same as when I had a single screen.
